Description

A Horse Clipper Service is to strip down and clean your clippers, check for worn or faulty parts, test the battery condition and PAT test for electrical safety. We will email you our report outlining essential or recommended repairs and the cost.

Who is this service for ?

  • Our customers are animal groomers, stockmen and a few hairdressers who use high quality clippers which benefit from regular maintenance.
  • The clippers and beard trimmers popular with young men & most hairdressers are not usually repairable.

SL Service are your clipper service & sharpening specialists. With our experience of working with and repairing clippers we will provide you with a first class service.

We stock parts for Lister – Liveryman – Heiniger – Wolseley – Hauptner – Premier1 – Liscop – Wahl – Andis – Oster – Aesculap and more.

Replacement parts cost extra and typical prices for these are:

  • Lister / Liveryman / Wolseley / Hauptner / Liscop motor brushes – £3 each
  • Heiniger Motor Brushes – £4 each
  • Comb pegs – £2 each
  • Replacement capacitor – £20 – £35
  • Drive crank – £20 – £30
  • Drive Lever – £3 – £10
  • Gears – around £30
  • Cable sleeve – £4
  • Rubber cable with moulded plug – £10

Complicated wiring repairs may cost extra. Re wiring an Oster A5 (’97) or a Laube clipper cable is £10 extra.

The postage you pay us is for return postage and the postage calculated in checkout is an estimate, actual postage can cost a few pounds more or less.

A typical service by us cleans the clippers, replaces the motor brushes if worn, the drive crank/lever if worn, re-greases gears, tests  batteries and PAT tests for electrical safety and costs around £30 to £50. We source our parts at good prices and don’t charge for unnecessary work, so our overall price is competitive.

Turnaround
We normally service and return your clippers within 2 or 3 working days though occasionally it may take longer.

Packaging
We recommend sending clippers in a cardboard box with padding.  Some people send them in a plastic case which postage more expensive.  You can include clipper blades you would like sharpened for £7 per set and wrap these individually within your parcel to avoid damage.

You may wish to use a fully tracked service with insurance for security and items lost or damaged in transit to us are not our responsibility.  In our experience close to zero parcels get lost with Royal Mail.

Payment
You can pay for your clipper service on this website by adding it to your shopping cart and checking out.  Or send your clippers with contact details and a covering note and once assessed we will email a report with a link to pay.

 

QUESTIONS

Can I Drop My Items Off ?
Yes it is fine to drop items off rather then post them.  There is a green parcel box right of the door you can leave items in outside hours.

I’m sending My Clippers in a Case, Will You Return This ?
Postage may cost extra to return your case.  Over 2KG postage is £8 RM Tracked 24.

Will You Let Me Know When My Items Arrive ?
When we have received your clippers we will email you a receipt to acknowledge that we have them.  When your items are ready to collect or we have sent them back we will email to let you know.

Do You Return Clippers With a Tracked Service ?
We send items by Royal Mail Tracked 24.  Royal Mail will email you the tracking information, delivery due date and you can select delivery options including choose delivery date, collect from parcel point, leave with a neighbour, choose a safeplace or deliver to another address.

    Excellent service from Steve, clippers repaired and serviced, full breakdown of what was and wasn’t needed and work carried out. Blades sharpened, all promptly sent back, due to Royal mail strikes took 10 days to be delivered!! Not at all Steve’s fault, despite been sent back signed for 1st class. Well packed, will definitely be send more blades to be sharpened and more clippers to be serviced/repaired, at the end of winter when Royal mail are back on track!!!

    Sent blades off for sharpening, back in less than a week and lovely and sharp, then sent my clippers off for servicing, again back in less than a week, fully serviced and all new wires.     I sent my clipper off to SL to be repaired, posted them on the Thursday from leigh wigan, and i had the clippers fully fixed and back in my possession for Saturday morning, and in fantastic working order.
    I thought these clippers were beyond repair, they had been repaired, serviced and blades sharpend. S L kept me in the loop with regular updated emails. Great price for work that was done, fantastic fast service I would highly recommend.
