£30 Showgear vs £130 Geib Black Pearl Scissors

Harriet sent her set of 3 Showgear scissors (£70) and her set of 3 Geib scissors (£400) for sharpening. Are the Geibs worth the extra money ?

Showgear Scissors:
These scissors work fine, the metal is OK and the design and geometry are OK. Good value for around £30 each or £70 for a set.

Geib Black Pearls:
Similar scissors to the Showgears, however look a little closer and you can tell the difference.
The design is similar but the Geibs are a little thicker and a lot more rigid. This means the Geibs have zero flex so the blades always keep together and won’t get pushed apart.
The metal the Geibs are made of is much harder steel and when well sharpened they go through hair very easily.

My Conclusion
You dont actually need the Geibs but you will want them.

Harriet says:
“I usually use a cheaper set for initial styling then when my my Geibs are up to standard with sharpness and alignment they cut like butter, and are mainly used as a finishing scissor. I love them with a good comb out of the coat and using the Geib chunckers and round scissor especially on the face gets the perfect finish!”
